We’re almost a week out from the start of a new Premier League season.

The wheeling and dealing continues for clubs across Europe as they attempt to make finishing touches to their squads for a new campaign, with money central to it all happening.

A release clause here, an add-on there, while clubs have been spending there has been something of a more reserved approach to the transfer market from many, and that should be instructive as to what lies ahead.

The Bottom Line focuses, of course, on the money behind the game. So, why is there a little mite reluctance to spend in the frivolous manner that we have seen for several years?
