Next week will see Liverpool play host to the biggest music star on the planet, a pop phenomenon who relentlessly breaks records and new ground for female artists.

Whether or not the musical talents of Taylor Swift are deserving of the platform, her impact on modern pop music is undeniable, with an army of ‘Swifties’ into the hundreds of millions worldwide.

The US songstress is a billionaire in her own right at just 34, with a knack of knowing her audience and her brand and how it can cut through and make a lasting impact. Her pull has been seen in just how the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team enjoyed an explosion in interest ever since she started dating one of the team’s star players, Travis Kelce, and was spotted at Chiefs games, including the Super Bowl earlier this year.

Of all the stadiums as part of this European leg of Swift’s Eras Tour, Liverpool’s Anfield home is the only arena that is home to domestic club football on the UK leg, with Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield, Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, and London’s Wembley the other UK arenas on the list.

Liverpool’s hierarchy will be aware of the potential. They will know that it can be more lasting in terms of growing revenues than just the £10m or so the club would receive through the three nights next week. But what is that potential?
