Liverpool are set to leave Nike for Adidas from next season
Welcome back to another edition of the Bottom Line, where we take a closer look at the business of football and what happens away from the pitch.
The UEFA Champions League was atop of the agenda for the biggest clubs this week, with Aston Villa, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City all in action, and all bagging three points to add another £1.8m to the coffers. It’s a lucrative thing, this football lark.
Away from the pitch we had the Premier League getting its backs up when it came to the Football Governance Bill, concerned about it having too much power and impeding the competitiveness of the world’s biggest domestic football competition.
We also had Liverpool’s kit deal with Nike come into focus, with reports claiming that a ‘£60m’ per year deal had been struck with Adidas, who would take over the role as the Reds’ kit partner from the start of next season. Back in April, SportBusiness had broken the story.
